Welcome To

Scarsdale

Scarsdale is now home to 18,000 residents and the wealthiest town.

Welcome to Scarsdale

An exclusive and sprawling suburb with first-rate food, shopping, and schools.

Scarsdale has long lured New York City families who want more space without sacrificing convenience and prestige. Some of the state’s most well-known residents–like Liza Minnelli, Yoko Ono, and Rob Reiner—grew up here.

Named by the lovelorn British ex-pat Caleb Heathcote in 1701, Scarsdale is now home to 18,000 residents and the wealthiest town in Westchester County. You’ll find elite shops and restaurants in the Tudor-style downtown (a nod to those English roots) and massive multi-million-dollar estates farther out.

What to Expect

A mix of timeless charm and modern conveniences.

Walkable from the train station is the one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants in “the village.” Radiating north, south, and west, you’ll find Scarsdale’s five neighborhoods—each with its own elementary school—and larger chain stores like Trader Joe’s and Lord & Taylor.

The Lifestyle

Family-friendly and sophisticated.

While communing with your neighbors at the park, ballfield, or community pool, the conversation will likely turn to literature, music, art, and theater.

Unexpected Appeal

Endless opportunities for outdoor adventures.

Along with 12 public parks, Scarsdale boasts an equestrian center, public and private golf courses, a 700-acre nature preserve, and easy access to a 14.5-mile trail loop system that threads through Westchester.

The Market

An eclectic mix of pricey single-family homes.

If you’re looking for a large lot, check out the centrally located Heathcote or southern Quaker Ridge neighborhoods. Far north in historic Greenwood you’ll find mostly Tudors and Colonials from the early 1900s. Fox Meadow, to the east, is the only part of Scarsdale that offers co-ops and condos as well as homes from the 1930s and 50s. The least expensive neighborhood is Edgewood, which has smaller lots and borders the Bronx River Parkway.

You'll Fall in Love With

The tranquil tree-lined streets.

Though the town’s proximity to New York City means that the train station and downtown area is crawling with commuters during rush hour, the majority of this almost 7-square-mile bedroom community is residential and peaceful.
